Seasonal Loose Leaf Collection Update

Check CIty of Raleigh website for updates

Please Remember the Following When Preparing Your Loose Leaves For Curbside Collection

  • Our vacuum trucks are designed for loose leaves only. Please separate tree trimmings, shrubs, and other types of yard debris from your loose leaves. These items will be picked up on your scheduled yard waste collection day along with any bagged leaves.
  • Leaves need to be raked to the curb and not in the street.
  • Please keep leaf piles away from fire hydrants and water meter boxes.

Not Sure About Your Leaf Collection Section or Yard Waste Day?

If you are unsure of your leaf collection section or scheduled yard waste day, you can look them up by using the Find My Service button on the City Services or Neighbors pages. Just enter your address in the Find My Service area on the right side of the page and select submit to determine your leaf collection section, recycling, solid waste and yard waste collection days, as well as other useful information.

Didn't Get Your Leaves to the Curb in Time?

  • Crews will make a second pass through the City after New Year's Day.
  • Citizens who receive loose leaf curbside service can have their leaves picked up year-round on their scheduled yard waste collection day. Leaves must be placed in clear plastic bags, paper bags, or permanent containers. Please visit the Yard Waste Preparation page for more information on preparing yard waste for collection.

New Triathlon Date - Saturday, August 20th

UPDATE:

I don't know how we got so lucky, but the police department contacted the City Manager and he has already approved a new date for the triathlon, which is Saturday, August 20th.  I think the easiest thing to do is assume everyone can participate in the race unless you tell me otherwise.  Start time is the same - 7:30 to register and the race begins at 8.  (The reason I'm asking everyone to register by 7:30 is because it is more exciting for the group that is competing to have lost of people cheer them on, the extra adults help with safety and I'm not really sure when the second and third groups will start.  If you need to register late, go to the first aid table.)

Many of you may have conflicts (especially with soccer season starting), and if so, please let me know.  I may be able to rearrange things so that the first group to start is for the kids that have conflicts later in the morning.

Originally, I was going to start with:
the 6 and under group  - at 8am
then the 7 - 10 group  - at about 8:45
and finally the 11- 14 group - about 9:30

However, if having your child start at 8 is helpful and means they can do both the triathlon and their other activity, we might be able to work something out.  Chances are we will have to have a combined group of different ages going at the same time, but if we think we can do it safely we will give it a try.  Also, just out of curiosity, would the parents of the 6 and under group prefer to have an earlier start time (like 8 or after the first group that has time conflicts has finished) or be the last group to go?  (If you have a preference, please send me an email.  Thanks.)

If you do have a conflict, please let me know the following:
1) can your child participate at all?
2) if it is a timing conflict, by what time do you need to leave the race?
3) the name and age group of your child

If you are a volunteer, if you could please let me know if you still would like to help, that would be great.  Thanks so much.

Hopefully Saturday, August 20th will work for everyone.  Thanks and have a nice day,
Leslie

Annual Leaf Collection: Time to rake leaves to curbside

Leafcollection1121

Crews will be in Section F moving toward Section G beginning November 22. Crews may be able to move to Section G on November 23.

City Residents in both collected and uncollected areas are urged to rake their fallen leaves to curbside as soon as possible, so that they are ready the next time the collector serves their neighborhood.

Daily announcements on Cable Channel 22 will notify citizens when their area will be serviced. Citizens may also call the Leaf Line at 996-3720 or visit this website for a daily update.
As a reminder, all citizens of Raleigh that receive the loose leaf curbside service can also have their leaves removed BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER the Loose Leaf Program if the leaves are put/placed in CLEAR PLASTIC BAGS, PAPER BAGS AND/OR PERMANENT CONTAINERS. This service is available year-round on their schedule yard waste collection day.

30-50 percent of the municipal solid waste stream is organic.
